Dora Kornelsen was born on January 24, 1925. She passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at Vita & District Health Centre, Vita, MB.

She was predeceased by her parents, John D. & Maria Fast, her husband, Andrew, one son, Stanley in infancy, two sons-in-law, Brian Cinq-Mars and John Reimer, and one great-granddaughter Jessica Reimer. She was also predeceased by five brothers (two in infancy), and four sisters (two in infancy).

Dora is survived by ten children, Irene Reimer, Alice (Herman) Friesen, Ernest (Erna) Kornelsen, Wes (Linda) Kornelsen, Art (Alma) Kornelsen, Lydia Cinq-Mars, Martha (Benno) Friesen, Ruth (Randy) Reimer, Susan (Lawrence) Dueck, Frank (San-D) Kornelsen, 30 grandchildren, 78 great-grandchildren, and 44 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters, Anne Harder, Mary Koop, Tina (Robert) Dueck, two sisters-in-law, and three brothers-in-law.

Mother grew up in Hueboden area between New Bothwell and Kleefeld, attending school at Seaton. She was baptized upon the confession of her faith at the Kleefeld Kleinegemeinde Church. She married Andrew Kornelsen on November 12, 1944. In 1952, they settled down in Kleefeld and raised their family. After retiring they moved to Steinbach. They were the first tenants at Linden Place where mom lived until November 15, 2025, when she needed full time nursing care.

Last Sunday morning we were notified by the Vita Personal Care Home nurse that mother had asked her to call the family because she was feeling “unwell”. The nurses took her vital signs which seemed normal, and then called the family. By 10:35 a.m., surrounded by her family, mother had passed away.

We as a family would like to express appreciation and gratitude for all the prayers, words of encouragement, cards and expressions of sympathy received from family and friends. Thank you as well to the nursing staff at Vita Personal Care Home for the excellent care they provided for mother.
