Obituary

Our dear mother, Yvette Desrochers (née Touchette), passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at the age of 96.

Mom was born on November 19, 1929, in Somerset, Manitoba, the only child of Pamela (née Vermette) and Conrad Touchette. She grew up in Somerset, attended the Bruxelles Convent, and later worked at the Somerset store, where she became known for her kindness, reliability, and warm smile.

In 1945, she met Martial Desrochers. They were married in Somerset on May 14, 1949, and began their lives together in St. Léon. They lived on the farm for nine years, where Mom & Dad raised six children before the family moved to Lorette. There, they welcomed seven more children and continued building a home rooted in faith, love, hard work, and devotion. She was married to our father for 58 years.

Mom devoted her life to raising her twelve children with patience, strength, and unwavering love. She was our steady presence, our safe place, and our greatest example.

She was predeceased by our dad Martial (2008), our sisters Ginette (1969) and Gisèle (1993), our brother-in-law Cliff (2023), and by her parents, Pamela (1979) and Conrad Touchette (1970).

Left to cherish her memory are her children:

Alain (Brenda Bloedow), Colombe Money, Eliette (Rhéal Marion), Denis (Kate Suchana), Roland (Janet Unbend), Simone (Andy Dodd), Lise (George Scull), Fernand, Marie-Paule (Gilles Fiola), Joanne (Ron Hibbard), and Jacqueline (Alain Fournier).

Mom, an only child leaves a legacy of 74 descendants. Mom was a proud grandmother of 28, great-grandmother of 32, and great-great-grandmother of 1. Nothing brought her more joy than seeing her family grow. Each of us carries a part of her within us.

Mom was a deeply devoted and pious Christian whose faith was the quiet foundation of her life. Prayer was part of her daily rhythm, and she entrusted her family to God in both joyful and difficult times. Her rosary was never far from reach, and her trust in the Lord never wavered. She believed in forgiveness, in kindness without condition, and in serving others with humility. Through her example, she taught us that faith is not only spoken but lived – in patience, in sacrifice, in gentle words, and in steadfast love.

Mom had many gifts and talents. She loved reading, was an amazing cook, and found joy in creating beauty. She tended her plants with care, filled her home with life and colour, and enjoyed painting. She knitted and crocheted countless treasures, sewed clothes with loving hands, baked cakes for every celebration, and carefully crafted cards for special occasions. Everything she made carried her warmth.

Mom was active in Les Blés d’Or and in religious groups at Lucille’s in Ste. Anne, where she found friendship, prayer, and community.

In September, 2024, Mom moved to Ste. Anne Villa, where she was cared for with compassion and dignity.

We extend special thanks to her devoted companion, Pauline Troff, whose friendship, support, and presence meant so much to our mother. We are also deeply grateful to the caring staff at Ste. Anne Villa and Bethesda Regional Health Centre for the compassion and kindness shown to Mom in her final days.

The funeral mass will be held on Friday, March 13, 2026, at Paroisse Notre-Dame-de-Lorette Parish, Lorette, MB., with the eulogy beginning at 10:30 a.m. followed by the service at 11:00 a.m.

Interment to follow.

Mom, you were our foundation, our comfort, and our example. We will miss you every day, but we are profoundly grateful for the 96 beautiful years we were blessed to share with you. We trust that you are now at peace in the presence of the Lord you served so faithfully. With love, Your children and family.
