Jake Hiebert passed away peacefully at the age of 82 on Thursday March 12th in St. Pierre at De Salaberry District Health Centre.
Jake is survived by his wife Alvera, daughter Brenda (Wendell) and their children Justin, Eric (Aynsley); sons, Gary (Regina) and their children Reyna (Justin), Sammi (Jared), Jayden (Sammi); Mike (Roxie), and their children Cate, Hannah; Tim (Karis) and their children Noah, Nate, Emmy; and two great grandchildren Easton, Brynn. He is also survived by one sister Frieda (Dennis) and two sisters-in-law Mary and Louise.
He was predeceased by his parents John and Maria Hiebert, four brothers, three sisters and his grandson Elijah Hiebert.
Jake grew up in New Bothwell. He loved playing baseball and was a bit of a trouble maker at school. After marrying Alvera in 1964 they moved to Red Lake where he worked in a gold mine. They moved back to New Bothwell just before their daughter was born and he got a job laying carpets for Eatons and Wm Dycks. A few years later he became a truck driver for Reimers. He loved driving! After his health started to decline he worked at the cheese factory in New Bothwell. During his retirement years he taught himself all about computers, which he really enjoyed. He loved helping people with all their computer problems.
The family would like to thank the staff at De Salaberry District Health Centre for the excellent care they gave dad on the last few days of his life.
The family invites you to join them for a come and go time of fellowship to celebrate Jake’s life on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at Crossings Funeral Care. Coffee and dainties will be served.
A private funeral service will be held. Interment in the Hespeler Cemetery in Niverville, Manitoba.
