It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother Emilia Laurin (nee Laramée) on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Villa Youville Personal Care Home in Ste. Anne, Manitoba, at the age of 99.
While many may remark on the length of her years, her family takes comfort in knowing she lived a life not only long, but truly well lived.
Emilia was born on November 10, 1926, in St. Eustache, Manitoba. Mom was the fourth oldest in her family of 10. Her parents owned a dairy farm in this small town, and she lived there until she married.
At the age of 19 years, she married our father, Gerard Laurin, with whom she shared 58 years of marriage until his passing in 2004. Together they raised a family of six children. They built a life of love, respect, and companionship, and they enjoyed the simple things in life.
Emilia was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She dedicated herself wholeheartedly to the care and well-being of the family. She was known for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering generosity.
She was a self-taught seamstress, a great cook, and a gracious host. Her home was a place of comfort, and she loved when people visited. Mom was always ready with dainties, or a meal was prepared for you to enjoy. You never left without a full stomach.
Emilia will be deeply missed by her children; Fleurette (Dave), Claire, Louise (Don), Noel (Rachelle), and granddaughter (daughter) Debbie (Dino). She was a proud and loving grandmother, great-grandmother, and a great-great-grandmother to her many grandchildren whose legacy will live on through them. She will also be fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews and many dear friends.
She was predeceased by her husband Gerard; her parents Albert and Georgina Laramée; her daughter Lucille Labossiere; her son Lionel; her grandson Gerald Laurin and her brothers and sisters.
Emilia was our family’s last living connection to past generations and the living link to our history.
Our mother will be remembered as a woman of great strength and grace, a devoted wife, a loving mother, a cherished grandmother, and a loyal friend. Her life was a testament of quiet dedication, enduring love, and selfless care of others. She will be missed by many!
The family extends their gratitude to Dr. Paul Demoissac, the Ste. Anne Hospital staff, the entire staff at the Villa Youville, for their care, compassion and support.
Special thanks to Soeur Rioux for her kindness, friendship, and comforting presence. You always had a special place in her heart.
Thanks, Mom, for all you’ve done for us, we will never forget you.
Rest in peace.
Cremation has taken place.
