Shirley is predeceased by her parents Jacob and Mary Wiebe.
She freely gave a piece of her heart to everyone that she knew, and carried it so proudly that it only makes sense that her heart gave out while she was giving time to those she cared about.
In 1966, she met the man of her dreams, marrying Hank in 1967. Shirley became a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and to any who asked – a home.
Shirley embodied integrity and loved the God she walked almost 80 years with. Her faith was her foundation, and she stood on the importance of relationship, both with God and people, and trusted God through every chapter.
Shirley went on to be employed for many years at Wm. Dyck & Sons, Niverville, MB, as a credit manager. The job was challenging but she cared deeply for her customers; going above and beyond for them.
As many were privileged to know, she had an uncanny natural ability to massage away people’s aches and pains. She pursued that life’s calling and became a massage therapist. As she was massaging her clients, she would also have a listening ear and an encouraging word.
Above all, family was her greatest joy. She adored her children, grandchildren, and great granddaughter – and loved to spend all the time with them she could. Her presence in their lives was a source of comfort, encouragement and unwavering love.
Shirley placed the highest value on her relationships and was a woman who truly loved people. This devotion was evident in her heart for listening; whether it be family, friends or strangers, Shirley wanted to know you. With a voice that was warm and inviting and arms that were gentle and safe, it was impossible to not eventually know her.
After losing her parents, Shirley, the oldest of five siblings, took an active role as mentor to all of her siblings, nephews and nieces. She was happiest spending individual time with all members of her family.
A true snow bird, Shirley loved to spend the winters away with Hank and her neighboring family and friends in Palm Springs, and in more recent years Phoenix, Arizona.
Shirley was always there to listen, and was a source of comfort and wisdom to all that sat with her. Her passing was a seismic shock to the family. Her memory will always remain. She was one of a kind.
We love you Shirley, Sister, Wife, Mom and Nan. We will miss you fiercely.
Funeral services are to be held on Wednesday, May 6th at 2:00 pm at Word of Life Church, 233 3rd Street South, Niverville, MB.
