Obituary

Colin Simner, age 76, of St. Malo, Manitoba, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at St. Pierre Hospital, surrounded by love.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of nearly 50 years, Sally, and his cherished family: Oliver and Solange (Emery and Shae); Matthew and Trish (Elle and Owen); Brett and Bailey (Logan, Griffin, and Bowen); James and Courtney; Melanie and Ken Francis (Joseph, Matty, William, Freddie, Ellie, and Jamie). He will also be lovingly remembered by his sisters Vanessa (John) Kneath and Janice (Derek) Williams; his brother David (Kerri); his brother-in-law Philip (Jan) Morgan; and many nieces and nephews.

Colin was predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Mary Simner, and his mother-in-law, Ann Morgan.

Born on August 16, 1949, in Tredegar, Wales, Colin spent his early years there, where he developed the steady, hardworking nature that would define his life. He met Sally, and they were married on April 3, 1976. Together they built a marriage grounded in devotion, resilience, and unwavering partnership through every season.

In 1982, Colin and Sally bravely left the United Kingdom to begin a new chapter in Canada. Though the decision was not an easy one, it laid the foundation for the life they would go on to build together. They spent the next decade dairy farming while raising their four sons – four busy boys born within six short years. Life was demanding but deeply meaningful. Colin and Sally worked side by side to build a strong, loving home, and their boys are forever grateful for the many opportunities they were given through their parents’ hard work and dedication.

In 1994, the family settled at the lake in St. Malo, where Colin remained for the rest of his life. He took immense pride in his home and yard, and it was common to find him mowing the lawn, trimming trees, or tending carefully to the property he loved.

Colin enjoyed cycling, cheering on his boys at dirt bike and snowmobile races, driving and admiring cars, and following all forms of motorsports. Yet above all his hobbies and accomplishments, his greatest pride was his family. He adored his grandchildren and was deeply proud of his sons – watching them grow, find their life partners, and build families of their own brought him immeasurable joy. His greatest love was Sally, and his life was firmly rooted in the family they created together.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, February 20, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Pierre Bible Fellowship, 488 Lavoie Avenue, St. Pierre-Jolys, Manitoba, with a private interment to follow.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, and health care aides at St. Pierre Hospital, as well as Dr. Minuk and the staff at HSC over the years, for their compassionate care and kindness shown to Colin.
