Obituary

Walter Tesarski, age 78, of Steinbach, MB, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 12, 2026, after a two year battle with cancer.

Born in Gardenton, Walter was a Winnipeg transit bus driver. He was known for his smile and kindness. He was a Lions member of Grunthal, MB, for 20 years. and his singing and guitar playing and his passion for country music. Walter was also known as the “Singing bus driver” and for his deep love for his family.

He is survived by his loving wife Lily, and his children Dwayne Tesarski and Lisa Laidlow (Ian Laidlow) and his stepchildren Michelle Hiebert (Donny) and Pat Funk (Mireille); his grandchildren Tevin Laidlow, Ella Laidlow, and Klassen’s: Tristan (Lycrecia), Kieran (Cas), Brayde (Tanis), and Taeghen (Graham); Funk’s: Daren, Keelan, Nixen, Carson, and many great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his 1st wife, Elsie Tesarski; brother, Tony Tesarski; and parents, John and Lena Tesarski.

We would like to give a heartfelt thanks to Bianka Giesbrecht for caring for Walter for 2 years. The palliative care (Kim & Mel), Dr. Reimer, and all the family who helped care for Walter.

The celebration of life will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.
