Obituary

Menno Abram Lepp, 82, of Steinbach, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2026.

Menno was born June 27, 1943, in Steinbach to Abram and Maria (Giesbrecht) Lepp. He grew up on the family farm near Randolph, attended Moray School and then MCI. Knowing farming wasn’t his calling, he began his working life at Loewen Body Shop in 1962, then moved on to Mennonite Mutual Insurance and Brookdale Pontiac, before serving as co-administrator at Fernwood Place and Linden Place alongside his wife Donalda. In his final career chapter, he founded Oak Leaf Promotions, building it into a flourishing business before eventually selling it in 2011.

In 1965, Menno married Hilda Siemens, and together they raised three sons. After Hilda’s passing in 1982, God brought Donalda into his life, and they were married in 1984 – a union of 42 years filled with love, faith, and family.

Menno was a man of integrity and loved God. His faith, a gift he received from God, was the foundation of everything he did. He stood firmly on things most important, especially relationships, and trusted God through every chapter.

Family was his greatest joy. He adored his grandchildren and loved spending time with them. From skiing in the mountains to riding the waves of the ocean, he was always in the middle of it. Sports were a lifelong love – fastball, tennis, golf, curling, and pickleball – and some of his fondest memories were being part of the Whips alongside his three boys. With a shared love for road trips, he and Donalda explored countless destinations from Fairmont Hot Springs to Peggy’s Cove, treasuring each new adventure they embarked upon together.

A man who truly loved people, Menno placed the highest value on his relationships. This devotion was evident in his heart for service, whether he was contributing his time to the board of Birchwood Funeral Chapel and the families they served, or his involvement within the church community.

He left us an example in the way he accepted his Parkinson’s diagnosis without complaint. Choosing rather to focus on all the healthy years he enjoyed.

Menno is survived by his beloved wife Donalda; sons Greg and Darel and their families; He was predeceased by his first wife Hildegard and his son Kerry.

He finished well. To God be the glory.
