Our dear mother, grand-mother and great-grandmother peacefully passed away at Foyer Valade Action Marguerite on August 1st, 2018.
She leaves to mourn in her memory her nine children; Eloise, Rachel (Joe), Gilles (Sharon), Rose-Aimée (Adonias), France, Colette (Maurice), Richard (Louise), Bernice and Aurèle (Lucette), and her 16 grand-children Arlette (Stavros), Sean (Jodi), Coleen, Jacques (Allison), Marc, Stéphane, Silvain, Chantal (Randy), Patrick (Connie), Michel (Tammy), Danielle, Amanda, Karine (Jonny), David (Renée), Mélanie (Chris), Monica (Dylan) and 16 great grand-children, one great-great granddaughter and a sister-in-law Thérèse Vermette.
She was predeceased by her husband Michel Parent (1989), her parents Ada Clément (1985) and Polydore Vermette (1982), her parents in-law Anna Lacharité (1961) and Joseph Parent (1949), her son-in-law Victor Perrin (2016), her brothers Arcade (2008) and Georges (2008) and her sisters Lilliane (2009) and Laurette (2016).
She was born and raised on a farm in St-Jean Baptiste Manitoba. She was an exceptional woman with many talents and qualities. She was a talented seamstress who loved sewing for her children and grandchildren and creating beautiful quilts. Dorothée had a big heart and was always willing to help others. She baked her own bread, made her own butter and had a huge garden with lots of preserves for the winter. She baked delicious pies, rice pudding and all sorts of baked goods. Being a seamstress, she offered her talents to design wedding dresses and other beautiful clothes for family and friends.
She participated in the Catholic Women’s League and contributed numerous baked goods for funerals and other parish events. She lived with her husband Michel on a 266-acre family farm in St. Joseph, Manitoba until their retirement in 1975. They lived their retirement years in Morris Manitoba and eventually Dorothée moved to Winnipeg in 1994.
Dorothée was a devoted, patient and loving woman. Her children and grandchildren always had time to spend with her, enjoy her pancakes and laugh often together. She loved her garden and flowers. Dorothée also sewed a quilt for each of her children and grandchildren.
