It was an honour to recently welcome the new class of medical students (who will graduate in 2021) at the Max Rady College of Medicine Inaugural Day and White Coat Ceremony held at the University of Manitoba downtown Campus.

Last Thursday I was joined by Hanover School Division trustees, staff and students to announce that Steinbach Regional Secondary School will receive provincial funding to replace their aging elevator.

I was pleased to announce on Monday that Manitoba had completed an agreement with the federal government that will see the province receive $399.6 million in support for mental health, homecare and community care over the next 10 years.

After the incredible opening ceremonies held at Winnipeg’s Bell MTS Place, Manitoba played host to sixteen days of competitive events featuring athletes, coaches, volunteers and spectators from around the country.

Last week our government was pleased to announce and see construction begin on a new intersection on Highway 12 North (at Trucks Unlimited) in Steinbach.

The Municipal Road Improvement Program was developed in partnership with the Association of Manitoba Municipalities and provides 50/50 cost-shared funding for municipal road projects including the cost of new road construction and road renewal projects to extend the useful life of a road.

This Monday, August 7th Manitobans will be celebrating Terry Fox’s courage, tenacity and his ability to inspire hope in people around the world.

Recently, my colleague Cathy Cox, Minister of Sustainable Development proclaimed July 17th to 23rd Drowning Prevention Week.

From July 28th to August 13th, Manitoba will host the Canada Summer Games for their 50th anniversary and Canada’s 150th birthday.

This month our government took a big step in helping Manitoba families become homeowners following a $1-million investment in affordable home ownership projects.
