It is with great sorrow and heavy hearts, that we the family of Olga Fosty, announce her passing on December 25, 2018, at the age of 90, at the Vita Hospital, Vita, MB.
Olga is survived by her loving children Linda Jacqueline Woywoda, Kenneth Wayne Fosty (Lorinda), Kelly Glynis Sobering (Chris) and Gregory John Fosty (Audra); grandchildren Colin, Tyler, Alec and Owen. She is also survived by her brother Bohdan Balla and many nieces and nephews.
Mom was predeceased by her husband John; parents Harry and Anna Balla; sister Lena Owchar; brothers Nick, Alec, Earl, Maurice, Mike and grandson Evan.
Mom and Dad were married in 1953 in Winnipeg at Sts. Vladimir & Olga Cathedral Ukrainian Catholic Church. Mom initially worked in Ontario at logging bush camps, then was a housewife and loving mother after she married Dad.
Mom enjoyed cooking meals, planting flowers, gardening and cutting grass at the farmhouse and especially the family cemetery. She spent much time there and was very proud of the cemetery’s well-kept appearance.
She loved her time spent with family, ensuring family get-to-getters were fulfilled especially during the holidays. Mom will always be remembered for the delicious meals she prepared for us. She loved driving her car to the neighbour’s and shopping at Steinbach and Vita. She drove until she was 89 years old and always bragged that she never got a traffic ticket!
Mom was very generous, always giving cash gifts to her family members. She always had lots of advice to give and had a remarkable memory for birthday dates of her family members and siblings.
May you have eternal peace as you keep a faithful watch over all of us. We take comfort knowing you are with Evan and will watch over him. Never forgotten and forever in our hearts.
We love you.
The family would like to thank the caring staff at Vita Hospital for the care and compassion she received.
Please join us to remember Olga and celebrate her life on Monday, December 31, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB with burial to follow at Balla Cemetery, Zhoda, MB.
