Obituary

Peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, Loretta Mah left this earth for her Heavenly home on Sunday, May 24, 2020 at St. Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg, MB.

She will be deeply missed by her Daughters Jody (João); Tracey (Paul); Son, Tyrone (Cheryl), also by her Grandchildren, Jordan (Andrea); Toshman and Brontë; Sisters, Kara, Sharron and Sister in Law, Leslie. She leaves behind Nieces, Nephews, many cherished friends and her faithful canine companion, Bamboo.

Loretta was predeceased by her beloved Husband George (2007); Parents, Elizabeth and Cornelius Peters; Brother in Law, Leo; Sister, Gloria; and Brother, Randy.

Loretta was born in Winkler, Manitoba on October 25, 1937. She was devoted to her family and was happiest when her home was buzzing with activity. Mom loved spending time with her children; backyard barbeques, lunches, gardening and shopping!

With her big smile and vivacious personality, Loretta was always the “Life of the Party”. She loved entertaining and especially enjoyed her Sunday lunches with ‘the girls’. An excellent cook, she was famous for her delicious shepherd’s pie at church potlucks. Monthly breakfasts with her cousins were always marked with anticipation. Loretta generously contributed her time and energy to many worthy causes. Until recently, she was a dedicated volunteer at Pembina Place Mennonite Care Home. Her presence will also be missed at Bradford Agility where she was fondly known as Grandma.

A woman of unwavering faith, Loretta was an active member of Nassau Street Church. She was blessed with the ability to connect with people of all ages and was a role model and mentor to many. She participated with enthusiasm in many church activities such as quilting, prayer groups, Sunday service greeter, and the serving of Communion.

A favourite Bible passage shared by our parents was from Isaiah 40:31, “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength: they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint”.

Loretta’s family would like to express our gratitude to the staff at Victoria and St. Boniface Hospitals, with special thanks to charge nurses Judy (5E) and Neil (Palliative Care), and to Sister Jean Ell for her prayers and comforting presence. Pastor Al Letkeman, your constant and continued support is greatly appreciated.

Donations can be made in Loretta’s memory to the CJD foundation of Canada.
