Obituary

On February 24, 2026, George Barry Knox passed away suddenly at his home in Ste. Anne Manitoba. He is survived by his daughter Kim, her husband Glenn, and three boys – Brady (Amy), Trenton (Hannah and Carter Barry), and Lance – his son Blake and his wife Tracy, and three children – Sienna (Spencer), Justin, and Ethan – and his special friend Joy Morrison. He was predeceased by his wife Caroll (nee Laing).

Dad lived and worked in Thompson Manitoba for 30 years where he raised his family with our mom Carroll and made many lifelong friends. In 1996 dad retired and he and mom moved out to Setting Lake and later settled in Paradise Village near Ste. Anne Manitoba. Dad golfed regularly with a crew of ex-Thompsonites and with the park crew. He also enjoyed regular cribbage games and other activities hosted by the Paradise Village community. In the winters Texas was home where dad would connect with his Thompson friends and the new friends he made over the 30 years he was there. Dad played and organized baseball games, golfed, hosted, and socialized each winter, basking in the warm weather and camaraderie.

Dad was very independent and enjoyed living in Paradise Village where he had a lot of support and companionship. He kept active, hosting this year’s Super Bowl party and watching and discussing the Olympics and all the day’s events.

The celebration of Barry’s life will be held on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.

Special thanks to Joy Morrison and neighbours Frank and Doreen, and his many acquaintances and friends. We are so appreciative to his community of friends, and the support dad had, allowing him to lead the independent and full life he thoroughly enjoyed.
